读汤一介先生《〈中国儒学史〉总序》的几点体会

摘　　要：由汤一介、李中华主编,由一批著名学者分撰的《中国儒学史》,计450万字,从先秦写到现代,时间跨度2500年,详述了儒学产生、发展、演变的全过程。汤先生为该书所写总序,洋洋五万余言,一方面它是对《中国儒学史》写作指导思想、写作视野、编写方式、全书特色的宏观论述,因此是一篇高水平的切合全书内容的总序;另一方面它又是改革开放以来汤先生对儒学研究一系列哲学思考的一次总汇和结晶,它超出了一般书序,是可以独立成书的,它展示汤先生老年时期自由的思想、独立的见解、创新的观念,体现了他走在时代的前列,引领学术潮流的风采。总序是一篇下了大功夫的厚重之作,是汤先生晚年最具系统性、学术性、理论性的作品,可以称为"汤一介晚年定论"。The History of Chinese Confucianism , written by a group of scholars, was edited by Tang Yijie ＆Li Zhonghua. The book is of 4 million 5 hundred thousand words, covering a time span of 2500 years from the Qin Dynasty to modern times, ranging across the whole process of the rise, development and evolution of Confucianism. Mr. Tang wrote a preface of fifty thousand words to the book. The preface is a macroscopic discussion on such things as the guiding ideology for the writing of the book, the perspectives for the writing, the way of writing and the characteristics of the book. It corresponds very highly to the content of the book. The preface also shows Mr. Tang＇ s achievements and crystallization of a series of philosophical reflections on Confucianism since the reform and opening up. Therefore, it is therefore far more than a mere preface, but an independent book in a sense. It shows the freedom of thought, the independent views, and the innovative ideas of Mr. Tang＇ s in his old age, and it shows that he is ahead of the forefront of the times, leading the trend of academic studies. The preface is a profound work with great efforts, one of the most systematic and academic and theoretical work of all that Mr. Tang wrote in his late years. It can be called ＂The supreme height of thoughts by the aged Tang Yijie ＂
