Buddhist Belief as Reflected in a Set of Liu-Family Sponsored Statues Of Xin Zheng in the Northern Qi Dynasty

摘　　要：1964年7月在河南新郑市小乔乡同时出土了《刘子瑞造像碑》《刘绍安造像碑》《刘绍安造菩萨像》《刘陆虎造像》等四件北齐石造像。作者近年对其进行考察研究的同时,发现这是一组家族式造像,从中反映出北齐时期河南民间佛教信仰的概貌。本文将从造像内容、造像形式和造像记探讨其时盛行的民间造像之风,以及佛教在乡村社会所发挥的功能。Four stone statues of the Northern Qi Dynasty were unearthed at Xiaoqiao of the Xinzheng city, in 1964. The author, based on a series of studies, argues that the four statues were sponsored by a family. This article analyzes the theme, style and inscriptions of the four statues, from which we can have a deep understanding of the popularity and functions of Buddhist statues in the rural society during the Northern Qi period.
