从葛浩文英译看莫言前景化语言翻译得失

摘　　要：美国汉学家、翻译家葛浩文将莫言作品译成英文,行文流畅、严谨,提升了原作的语言水平,极大地提高了莫言海内外的知名度。莫氏风格的重要因子"前景化"语言在西方的传播中面临语言的障碍和文化的障碍,葛浩文采用了三种方法翻译:一、坚持"信、达"原则,译文与原文的前景化语言相得益彰;二、译文对原作中前景化语言的折中——"拿汉语读,用英语写";三、前景化语言省略不译。文章运用个案分析法,选择莫言极具代表性的两部长篇小说《红高粱家族》《生死疲劳》及葛浩文英译本"Red Sorghum""Reincarnation Fatigue"作为语料,通过不完全统计得出这三种译法在翻译文本中所占的比例,分别为51.8%、35.3%、12.9%,进而从翻译角度来探析莫言小说译文效果的优劣与价值。American sinologist, translator Howard Goldblatt translates Moyan＇ s novels into English. His translation flow smoothly, rigorous, enhance the level of the original language and greatly improve the Moyan＇ s popularity at home and abroad. Most important factors of Mo＇ s style ,＇ foregrounding＂ language in the dissemination of western face language and cultural barriers, Howard Goldblatt uses three ways of translation：First, insists on the principle of ＂faithfulness, expressiveness＂, the prospect of translation and the original out the best in each other;Second, compromise of foregrounding language language to bring in the translation and the original ＂take Chinese reading, written in English＂ ; Third, ＂foregrounding＂ language omit no translation. Through the incomplete statistics, in Red Sorghum and Life And Death Are Wearing Me Out, the proportion of these three methods respectively about 51.8% ,35.3%, 12.9%. Effect of different translation methods has positive aspects and negative aspects.
