摘 要:随着认知语言学的兴起,人们逐渐认识到隐喻和转喻不仅可以作为修辞手段增强语言表达效果,而且具有重要的认知作用,可以说是人类基本的认知方式。近年来有学者对同是修辞格的提喻进行了认知研究,认为提喻和转喻是连续体关系,提喻是转喻的基础。本文对此研究提出质疑,认为提喻作为修辞手段,为了表达的精细,可以把提喻和转喻相区分;但是作为认知过程,提喻和转喻共享认知理据,二者之间没有明确的界限,通常提喻是包含在转喻之中的,没有必要把提喻分离出来。With the development of cognitive linguistics, it isgradually acknowledged that metaphor and metonymy can notonly be used as rhetorical means to enhance the effect of lan-guage, but also have an important cognitive function, which canbe viewed as a basic human cognitive style. In recent years, somescholars also conducted researches on synecdoche from the cog-nitive perspective, holding that synecdoche and metonymy formacontinuum and synecdoche is more basic than metonymy. Thepresent paper questions some of their studies, viewing thatsynecdoche, as a means of rhetorical device, can be treated asdifferent from metonymy for the sake of precision. However, re-garded asa cognitive process, synecdoche is still a branch ofmetonymy, as these two have no clear demarcation between eachother and they share the same cognitive motivations.
