摘 要:针对目前削弱英语教育的倾向,本文从语言哲学、人文教育和思想创新等方面详细论述我国英语教育的潜在价值。本文指出,强调要"使英语回归工具属性"固然无可厚非,但是仅从这种实用主义的标准衡量我国英语教育的得失具有片面性,因为英语不仅是交际工具,其中还蕴藏着丰富的民族精神和人文内涵,英语教育在开拓学生心智能力、丰富其精神内涵上起着不可替代的作用。基于此,本文指出,为了实现课程教学的创新,英语教师应该超越以讲授语言点和语言技能为主要内容的教学模式;教师应该结合英语的人文和民族精神内涵组织教学内容,展示英语民族看待世界的独特视角,培养学生多元化的文化视野,激发学生的内在学习动机。In response to the current trend of English education in China,this paper makes a detailed analysis of its potential value from the perspectives of language philosophy,humanistic education and the fostering of creative mind. It points out that,while the claim that"English should resume its due role as an instrument for communication"is reasonable,it is partial to assess the value of its education merely with such utilitarian criteria. English is much more than a communicative tool. The English language embodies the rich spiritual and humanistic content of English-speaking people,and its education plays an irreplaceable role in developing students' mental power and enriching their spiritual world. As such,teachers should innovate their teaching by going beyond a curriculum that focuses mainly on language points and skills. Teachers should integrate the language-related humanistic and spiritual content into their teaching,and demonstrate the unique world-view of English-speaking people,to foster in students a multicultural perspective on the world and inspire their intrinsic learning motivation.
