摘  要:卫三畏以对汉语教学研究坚持不懈、精益求精的精神,倡导以培养汉语词汇交际能力为教学核心目标,采取比较语言学和文化情景的教学方法,从"语言-文化-人文精神"三个维度构建美国汉语教学体系,凸显美国早期汉语研究、后期美国中国学研究模式注重解决现实问题的实用主义特征,奠定重视现实需要、强调实用价值的美国汉语教学模式的基础。Samuel Wells Williams in his persistent and profound study of Chinese language teaching has been advocating the core target as the teaching of Chinese?lexicographical and communicative skills.To achieve the goal,he adopts the teaching methodologies of comparative linguistics and contextual education,and constructs the American system of Chinese teaching from three perspectives of"language-culture-humanism'.He represents the pragmatic styles of early Chinese studies and later Sinological studies in America which focused on the solutions of practical problems,and in this way paved way for a methodological foundation of reality-based and practice-oriented American mode of Chinese teaching.
