摘　　要：本文探讨《尚书》首部英译本及其作者麦都思,介绍译者背景、翻译的动机、翻译《伪古文尚书》的缘由,分析译文体例,评论译文得失,考察译本的影响以及学者对它的评价,注重在客观历史文化背景中去考察麦都思及其翻译作品以理清有关争议。This article is an analysis of the first English translation of the most ancient historical document in China, the Shangshu, motivation for translating the book, style, layout probing into the translator＇s background, , and influences in the specific social historical context for the purpose of clarifying matters in the controversies about the translation in discussion.
