摘 要:托尼·莫里森的《乐园》在塑造文化共同体方面的启示意义不仅隐含于小说的题目,还反映在小说中并置的两种家园共同体(鲁比黑人小镇和女修道院)的构想、设计当中。鲁比小镇固守历史,盲目排外,男权专制,致使共同体逐步丧失向心力;女修道院内虽然包容和谐,具有高度的凝聚力,但对外孤立封闭,消极避世。两个家园都走不出狭隘的"伪共同体"逻辑和绝对化倾向,莫里森通过慎思黑人男女分别在创建家园、追求乐园过程中的得失,反思黑人民族主义者在想象共同体方面存在的问题,展现了一种旨在憧憬真正共同体的情怀。The significance of Toni Morrison's Paradise in building a cultural community lies not only in the title itself, but also in its design of two communities, Ruby and Convent respectively. Owing to Ruby's conservativeness, xenophobia and patriarchal autocracy, this small town gradually loses its centripetal force as a community. The Convent, on the other hand, seems inclusive and harmonious with a high degree of cohesion, but remains an isolated closed system to the outside. Therefore, neither extricates itself from the logic of a narrow pseudo-community or from tendency of absolutization. Morrison examines the gains and losses of black men and women in the process of creating their homes, reflects on the problems of black nationalists' vision of community, and articulates her longing for a real community.
