严复的君子观念

摘　　要：严复沿袭自古以来的大人君子观念,反映了严复的传统文化思想,但他学贯中西,西学对其君子观产生了很大的影响,主要表现在:以近代自由观和真理观丰富君子道德观;将近代市场经济思想融进君子义利观;将天演进化思想融进君子中庸之道。Altliough the notion that Yan Fu inherited about tlie gentlemanship in ancient China is officialdomtional Chinese cultural tliought,he was indeed influenced by the of Western gentlemanship, as he had a thorough knowledge of both Western and traditional Chinese cultures. The influence lies in the fact that he enriched the moral principle of ancient China’s gentlemanship with themodern Western views of freedomand truth, that heput themodern market economy thought into the gentlemen’s viewof moral and profit,and that he combined the thought of evolution by Thomas Huxley in his Evolution andEthics with the Confucian doctrine of the mean that a Chinese gentleman followed.
