《红高粱家族》方言隐喻英译研究——以葛浩文英译本为例  

English Translation of Dialect in Red Sorghum:A Cognitive Metaphor-based Study

摘　　要：以概念隐喻理论为指导,在对《红高粱家族》方言隐喻进行分类的基础上,考察葛浩文对源语文本方言隐喻采取的翻译策略和处理方法,并分析汉英方言隐喻喻体意象的异同。研究发现:《红高粱家族》中的方言主要存在人体、动物、植物、饮食、物品和自然现象六类隐喻;对该六类隐喻葛浩文主要采用了喻体对应、喻体转换、喻体移植、喻体舍弃这四种翻译方法;可利用"喻体共知性"来检验方言隐喻英译是否恰当,并发现葛氏译本虽然广为认可,但不可避免存在误译的情况,从而造成了"文化缺失"和"传递矮化"现象。Under the guidance of conceptual metaphor,this paper aims to sort out what translation strategies and methods Goldblatt adopts in translating dialect metaphors and analysis similarities and differences of source domains of dialect metaphors between Chinese and English.The paper finds： The type of source domains of dialect metaphors are mainly human bodies,animals,plants,food,items and natural phenomena.Goldblatt uses mainly corresponding,transformational,transplanted and abandoned source domains.＂Common cognition＂can be used to examine whether a translation proper or not.What is more,the paper also comes into a conclusion that although Goldblatt＇s translation enjoys a wide recognition,there are unavoidably some mistranslations which result in ＂cultural loss＂and ＂transmittable dwarfness＂.
