摘　　要：体育是人类特殊的社会文化活动。清代中期广州传统体育有了很大发展,建造了最早的近代体育场馆,诞生了最早的近代体育团体,培育了最早的运动员队伍,举办了最早的西方体育比赛,进行了中西体育运动的交流,并将中国传统体育传播到国外。广州成为西方近代体育传入的重要通道,是中国近代体育的发源地,开启了中国体育的近代化进程。Sport is a special social and cultural activity created by mankind. In the mid-Qing dynasty,Canton traditional sports had developed greatly and became an important channel for the introduction of modern sports of the West. The western modern sports projects were introduced into Canton,the earliest modern stadiums were built,the earliest modern sports groups were born,the earliest athletes were cultivated,the earliest Western sports competitions were held and the exchange of Chinese and Western sports had taken place here. In a word,Canton is the birthplace of China modern sports,where the process of modernization of Chinese sports had begun.
