摘　　要：短期高等教育是高等教育大众化进程中兴起的新的高等教育类型,20世纪中后期,在主要发达国家得到大规模发展,目前已成为各国高等教育体系的重要组成部分,并且发挥出巨大的实践价值。它促成了发达国家高等教育向大众化和普及化阶段的顺利过渡,极大改变了现代高等教育的整体格局,培养了大批合格的中高层次实用技术人才,为各国经济社会发展提供了重要的人力支撑。发达国家短期高等教育的发展历程对我国高等职业教育有着极为现实的借鉴意义,我国应从战略高度确立高等职业教育在高等教育体系中的地位,正确处理高等职业教育和普通高等教育的关系,做好高等职业教育与产业经济和社会发展的对接及融合,使之在我国高等教育现代化进程中发挥应有的作用。Short-cycle higher education, a new type of higher education which emerged in the process of mass higher education, began to develop on large scale in the second half of the 20 th century and has become an important component of higher education system in various countries nowadays. Short-cycle higher education has played tremendous practical value： it helped developed countries realize the universalization and popularization of higher education successfully; it changed the overall pattern of modern higher education; it trained a large number of qualified mid and high-level personnel with practical techniques; it provided strong human resources support for economic and social development in many countries. Studying the development process of short-cycle higher education in developed countries can provide extremely practical reference to the construction of China＇s higher vocational education. To fulfill the proper value of higher vocational education in the process of higher education modernization in our country, we should strategically recognize the important role of higher vocational education in the higher education system, correctly handle the relationship between higher vocational education and regular higher education, and well concatenate and integrate higher vocational education with industrial economy and social development.
