摘 要:莫言小说《天堂蒜薹之歌》中大量使用拟声词,不仅形象生动地再现了原文语境,同时使小说具有音韵之美。采用定性分析和定量分析相结合的研究方法,归纳总结葛浩文在英译《天堂蒜薹之歌》时采用的翻译方法及技巧,并从宏观上把握葛浩文的翻译观,以期为拟声词英译提供指导。葛浩文在英译拟声词时主要采用直译法,对于不易译、不可译以及表意含糊的拟声词,采用意译、增译、减译以及造词等翻译方法和技巧,尽可能使译文易于目的语读者理解接受。Mo Yan uses lots of onomatopoeias in his novel the Garlic Ballods , which not only vividly reproduces the original context, but also endows the novel with phonological beauty. By using qualitative method as well as quantitative method, the paper analyzes Howard Goldblatt’s methods and skills in translating the onomatopoeias of the Garlic Ballads , and concludes the frequency of each method and skill, thus finding out the translation thoughts of Goldblatt on the whole. In the translation of onomatopoeias, Goldblatt mainly uses literal translation, and for those onomatopoeias which are difficult to be translated or those which are obscure in meanings, the translator uses free translation, addition, omission as well as word-creating to make the translation as intelligible as possible for target readers.
