The author and the reader are a natural pair. It is only meaningful for an author to write if there are readers. Even Sima Qian (145-90 BC), the well-known heart-broken historian of the Records of the Grand Historian, who decided to "conceal his writings in a sacred mountain", was still hopeful that a "certain kind of sage or gentleman" would appreciate them.
