摘 要:本文对某些英语单词的发音与词义之间所存在的联系作了论析和探讨.英语词汇的音义是一种社会的约定俗成,并在长期的语言运用中固定下来.绝大多数英语单词,其发音与词义之间并没有必然的联系.但有一定数量的词汇,由于某些字母或字母组合所产生的读音能够象征某种概念或意境,形成一定的语言氛图让人产生联想,给人们带来一些声音方面的感受和启发,使得音义间产生了某些联系.The paper aims to investigate the relationship between sound and sense. In the course of long years of use, English words have acquired their fixed sounds and senses, which have been accepted through common practice. For most English words, there is no inevitable relation between sound and sense. However, owing to the special pronunciation of some individual letters or letter groups, there exists a certain part of words whose sounds have something to do with their senses. The sounds of these words can symbolize some artistic conception, form some language atmosphere, give readers some semantic association, impress readers deeply, and inspire them greatly.
