摘 要:短篇小说《脸》﹙Face﹚是艾丽丝·门罗2009年发表的短篇小说集《幸福过了头》(Too Much Happiness)中的第六篇,可谓是门罗后期小说的代表之作,具有典型的门罗特征。故事中出现的两位母亲形象被门罗以对照鲜明的笔触向读者呈现,并且将母亲们各自的性格和人生折射在两个小主人公身上彼此呼应。两位母亲身上深刻的社会印记和人物特征都饱含了作者门罗对女性个人意识迂回复杂的存在和成长变化所做的细致体会和深切关注。两位女性围绕男性话语主导下产生的矛盾,从引发激烈的言辞战争到最后的无声和解,都以门罗的方式被生动阐释。她们在追逐自我的道路上率性求真或是自我压抑的性格特征都能让读者在掩卷静思之后有一种拷问内心的清冷顿悟。Face is the sixth one in the short story collection Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro in 2009, which is considered as one of her masterpieces in her later years and is characterized with the style of Munro5 s writing. In the fiction, two different mother images are sho'wn to readers by sharp comparison. In terms of inheritance and reflection, the relationship bet'ween the mothers 'with their daughter and son’ s mind and life is not isolated but concordant. Munro never stops thinking and concerns for the complicated existence and development of female consciousness in the aspects of their social status and inner 'world. Under the pressure caused by male-leading authority, the mothers started their fight for incisive verbalism, and with a silent ending in such a Munro ’ way.Whether they are of straightfor^vardness or of self depression, there is always striking calmness and comprehension for life and heart after reading it.
