摘　　要：礼貌原则的研究目的是通过了解不同文化、社会、民族和不同地域环境下所形成的礼貌需求，从而使交际双方始终保持保持一种和谐的谈话氛围。我们选取中国现代经典戏剧《茶馆》及其英若诚、霍华两个英译本为研究语料，考察《茶馆》及其两英译本基于中西不同文化背景下的礼貌原则及其蕴含的社会文化意义。The aim of the investigation of Politeness Principles is to understand politeness requirements in dif ferent cultural,social and regional environments in order to the facilitate communicators to maintain a harmonious conversational atmosphere.We focus on politeness principles in different cultural background to study the social effect of politeness discourses in drama translation.Teahouse and its two translations by Ying Ruocheng and Howard are selected as texts for research.
