摘　　要：《古今自由主义》是美籍犹太裔政治哲学家列奥·施特劳斯自编的第二本论文集,其中第一篇《何为自由教育》、第二篇《自由教育与责任》都是正面讨论大学教育问题的重要文章。鉴于近年来国内大学教育理论和实践中"自由教育"(Liberal Education)的理念持续受到关注,而且施特劳斯的政治哲学也并非巧合地成为目前推动我国大学"自由教育"(又译"博雅教育")和"通识教育"的重要思想助力,我们有必要结合西方自由教育传统认真看待并分析施特劳斯这两篇文章的意图。Liberalism Ancient and Modern is the second collection of his own papers by American Jewish political philosopher Leo Strauss.The first paper in this collection is What is liberal Education;the second one is Liberal Education and Responsibility.They are both important papers discussing education problems in universities.Since Liberal Education has attracted constant attention in China's university education theory and practice,and Strauss' Polictical Philosophy has become the important ideological driving force for promoting liberal education in China's universities,we should analyze carefully the intention of the two papers by combining the western education tradition.
