Qualitative Research on the Effect of the Undergraduate Freshmen Deminar——Taking Huazhong University of Science and Technology as an example

摘  要:新生研讨课是一门专门面向本科新生开设以提高其大学生活和学习适应能力与学术能力的课程,自2003年由清华大学首次开设以来,国内各高校陆续开设此类课程。华中科技大学于2013年首次开设《科学思维与研究方法》新生研讨课,为探究该课程开设效果,采用开放式问卷对华中科技大学《科学思维与研究方法》新生研讨课进行调查。结果表明,在课程安排、英文研讨课的实施、课程考评等方面该课程存在不足之处,但其互动式教学形式及课程内容的安排方面有可借鉴之处。另外,参与该课程的一些学生也取得了学术能力及人际交往方面的收获。基于此研究,可总结一系列课程开设经验,以期对开设好新生研讨课提供建议。The Freshman Seminar is a course for undergraduate freshmen to improve their university life and learning adaptability and academic ability. Since the first opening of Tsinghua University in 2003, domestic universities have successively opened such courses. Huazhong University of Science and Technology first opened a new seminar on “Scientific Thinking and Research Methods” in 2013. In order to explore the effect of this course, this paper uses an open questionnaire to investigate the freshmen seminar of “Scientific Thinking and Research Methods” of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The results show that the curriculum has some inadequacies in terms of curriculum arrangement, implementation of English seminars, curriculum evaluation, etc., but its interactive teaching style and curriculum content can be used for reference. In addition, some of the students who participated in the course also achieved academic and interpersonal gains. Based on this research, a series of course development experiences can be summarized to provide suggestions for setting up new seminars.
