摘 要:近代西人眼中的台湾教育是西方"台湾印象"形成的重要方面。接受过西方教育的西人来台后,对当时台湾地区的教育制度提出了诸多建议。他们一方面对汉人传统的科举制度进行猛烈抨击,并直陈女性教育缺失这一弊端,将汉人教育制度作为解构的主要对象;另一方面也努力从文字语言、法律法规及文学创作三个角度挖掘先住民的相关教育理念,试图寻找其与西方文明有关的蛛丝马迹,作为在先住民中建构西式教育理念的基础。围绕这一目的,西人在台开展办校办学等多样的教育活动,却始终未能摆脱西方神学思想的桎梏,对西方文化的"中国化"进程效果寥寥。然而,西人对台湾教育理念的批判在客观上促进了台湾教育制度的反思与更新,成为近代台湾发展的重要推动力。Taiwan education in the eyes of modern westerners is an important aspect of the formation of "Taiwan impression" in the west. After the westerners who had received western education came to Taiwan, they put forward many suggestions on the education system in Taiwan at that time. On the one hand, they strongly attacked the traditional imperial examination system of the Han people, pointed out the defect or the lack of female education, and took the education system of the Han people as the main object of deconstruction. On the other hand, the author tries to explore the related educational concept of the antecedents from the perspectives of language, laws and regulations and literary creation, so as to find the clues related to western civilization, which can serve as the basis for the construction of western educational concept among the antecedents. Centering on this purpose, the westerners carried out various educational activities such as running schools in Taiwan, but failed to get rid of the shackles of western theological thought and had little effect on the process of "sinicization" of western culture. However, the western people’s criticism of Taiwan’s educational concept objectively promotes the reflection and renewal of Taiwan’s educational system and becomes an important driving force for the development of modern Taiwan.
