摘　　要：欧·亨利是20世纪初美国著名短篇小说家和美国现代短篇小说创始人,其重要作品《麦琪的礼物》运用独特的语言来讲述一对可怜的年轻夫妇在圣诞节之际给对方买送礼物的曲折情节,故事看似平淡无奇,实则韵味深长,它展现了小人物苦难、艰辛的生活,并揭示了当时美国社会各种矛盾日益突出的社会现实,表达了作者对人性之美的高度赞扬。本文将从美在《麦琪的礼物》中的展现、美好的人性在《麦琪的礼物》中的表现、人性的升华在《麦琪的礼物》中的体现三个方面阐释人性美在小说中的彰显,进而挖掘欧·亨利短篇小说真爱无价的主题,以期弘扬真善美。O’Henry is a famous American short story novelist and the founder of modern American short stories in the early 20th century. His important work, The Gift of Magi , uses unique language to tell the tortuous plot of a poor young couple buying gifts to each other on Christmas Day. The story seems mundane, but it has a long charm. It shows the suffering and hard life of unimportant people. It also reveals the increasingly prominent social reality of various contradictions in American society at that time, and expresses the author’s high praise for the beauty of human nature. This paper explains the beauty of human nature in the novel from three aspects: the display of beauty in The Gift of Magi , the expression of beautiful human nature in The Gift of Magi , and the sublimation of human nature in The Gift of Magi . It also excavates the priceless theme of true love in O’Henry ’s short stories in order to carry forward truth, goodness and beauty.
