At the end of life, especially for those patients with non-cured diseases, the improving of life quality becomes more important than the length expanding of life. At this stage, patients' distress mainly comes from their spiritual suffering. Usually, they have the spiritual needs to seeking harmony between themselves and their surroundings. However, in practice, the spiritual care for the patients is rarely provided by the doctors or the nurses. The key of spiritual care is to help patients to rebuild the eternal meaning and the worth of their lives. Therefore, medical staffs need to further enhance their humanistic literacy, respect for life, and show compassion to patients.
