论《新世纪汉英大词典》中成语英译的问题及成因

摘　　要：《新世纪汉英大词典》中的成语存在套译不当、缺乏隐喻意义和褒贬色彩混淆等问题,语言差异、文化差异和理论缺陷是造成其成语英译问题的原因。In New Century Chinese-English Dictionary(NCCED),an influential dictionary in this century,whether its idioms are properly translated affects not only affect the value of the dictionary and the understanding and acceptance of target learners but also the smooth processing of cross-cultural communication.Improper adaptation,lack of metaphorical meaning and confusion of commendatory and derogatory connotation are the main problems in Chinese idiom translation in NCCED.The main causes of the problems are huge difference in language and culture and deficiency in relevant translation theory.
