基于语料库的英语名转动词及其新生搭配研究——以工具动词google为例

摘　　要：本文基于美国当代英语语料库(COCA)的真实语料,以google为例,对英语中的名转动词及其新生搭配进行研究。Clark&Clark(1979)提出了4种界定英语名转动词的标准,但这些标准存在明显不足。本文依据语言事实进行了补充说明和解释。根据从COCA上检索到的名转动词google的真实用例发现,名转动词除了Clark&Clark所说的限定动词用法,还有非限定动词用法,而且名转动词不仅可以单独使用,还可以和介词或小品词一起使用而形成新的搭配。名转动词google与介词for或小品词up的搭配虽然在最近几年才出现,但有可能会随着英语的发展变化而成为新生搭配的一种潜在来源。This study attempts to investigate English denominal verbs and their new collocations with google as an example on the basis of authentic data from Corpus of Contemporary American Eng-lish(COCA).Clark&Clark(1979)proposed four criteria of defining and classifying English denominal verbs.However,these criteria cannot cover some features of denominal verbs,for which this article provides some evidence and explanations.Based on the authentic examples of the denominal verb google from COCA,this study discovers that denominal verbs can both be used as finite verbs and infinite verbs.It has also found out that denominal verbs can be used both alone and together with prepositions or particles to form new collocations.Such new colloca-tions as google for and google up are relatively new in English,but they could be a potential source of new collocations with the change of the English language.
