摘　　要：国家认同本质上是个体或群体与国家构成要素之间情感联系的表达,作为国家赖以存在的物质基础和条件,地理可以有效地成为国家认同的依附对象。目前学界忽略了地理认知对国家认同的构建作用。事实上,政治维度和地理维度是理解现代民族国家不可或缺的构成因素。16世纪英国的宗教改革开启了建构早期现代民族国家的序幕,与当时盛行的民族地理图绘制相配合,早期现代英国文学通过特定的地理书写,以期激发英国读者和观众新的地理认知,从而推动建构早期现代民族国家的认同情感。莎士比亚、斯宾塞对不列颠海岛的赞美服务于构建英国作为海岛民族的认同情感,李尔王的悲剧则显示了封建领主制的土地关系与早期现代国家的国土认同之间的冲突。此外,早期现代英国作家笔下的地理景观书写也蕴含着丰富的价值取向,与国家认同形成同构关系。National identity is in nature an emotional bond between the state and an individual or a group of people.Geo-entities could effectively serve as the physical base and conditions for national identity to be attached to.However,little attention has been paid to the geo-function of constructing national identity.Political and geographical dimensions are the indispensable elements of the modern national state.The Reformation initiated the process of English national state in the 16th century.Early modern English literature,in accordance with the geo-mapping of the national state,supplies a variety of geo-writings so as to stimulate geographical cognitions and thus to construct national identity in the English reader and audience.Shakespeare s and Spenser s praise of the British isle serves to construct the identity of an island nation;king Lear s tragedy demonstrates the conflict between the seigniorial system and the land identity of the early modern national state.Besides,the landscape in early modern English literature also carries varied values isomorphically corresponding to national identity.
