摘　　要：吴经熊是民国时期著名的法学家、翻译家,毕生致力于中西文化交流。尽管其一生的翻译作品相比其著述数量有限,但是他的翻译颇具特色。在清末民初西学东渐的大潮中,吴经熊逆势而行,将中国法学的一些传统思想与当时的立法状况译介到西方世界,旨在让西方真正了解中国。本文通过分析译者与翻译直接相关的社会、学术背景,描述其翻译活动,追踪译者的心路历程,力求深入探析一个世纪以前,吴经熊作为翻译家在对外译介中国传统法律文化过程中所做出的努力。同时,通过考察吴经熊的法学翻译实践,以翻译、传播及其影响为线索,反思其中的问题,探究其翻译策略,以期为现代中国法学的对外译介提供借鉴。As a famous jurist and translator,John C.H.Wu devoted his whole life to the cultural exchange between the West and China.He introduced some traditional Chinese legal thoughts and the legislative documents to the West through translation.By analyzing the social and academic background of the translator,this paper describes Wu’s translation works and offers an in-depth analysis into his translating endeavor before conducting a discussion in terms of how we might update our legal translation concepts in order to do a better job in the current legal translation that can be well understood outside China.
