摘　　要：美国戏剧家尤金·奥尼尔戏剧的一大特点就是诗化的语言,如何在翻译中保存或再现,是值得译者和研究者关注的。20世纪70年代,香港今日世界出版社出版了乔志高翻译的奥尼尔经典剧作《长夜漫漫路迢迢》,原剧中人物对话充满了诗意片段和抒情话语。考察乔志高对引用的诗句和抒情话语的翻译,可以为舞台诗歌语言的翻译和研究提供借鉴和启示。One of the outstanding characteristics of the American playwright Eugene O’Neil’s works is the poetic language.How to preserve or reproduce it in translation is a topic worthy of the attention from both translators and researchers.In 1973,Today’s World Publishing House in Hong Kong published the Chinese translation of O’Neill’classic play Long Day’s Journey into Night.In the original play,the dialogues are full of poetic bits which make the colloquial and plain conversations touchingand profound at the same time.The translator was George Kao,and his translation successfully reproduced and preserved the poetic characteristics of the original play.George Kao’s translation of the quoted poems and the feeling-expressing dialogues provides reference and enlightenment for the translation and research of the poetry language in plays.
