摘　　要：《水浒传》塑造了众多经典人物形象,在人物服饰描写方面笔墨浓重,是人物性格和地位塑造的重要组成部分。以登特-杨父子译《水浒传》(英文名:The Marshes of Mount Liang)中“笠”的翻译为出发点,探索古代头饰“笠”的英译方法和策略。研究发现,对于“笠”的翻译,登特-杨先生父子首选“hat”作为译文,只有一处译为“cap”。对比分析二者意义,笔者认为“hat”比“cap”更适合翻译中文的“笠”。译者对于“笠”的翻译,服饰词汇用词前后多处出现不一致的现象。此外,译文存在误译现象。最后,译者多次对一些有文化内涵的词汇省略其翻译。Shui Hu Zhuan shaped many classic character images,and has a strong pen and ink in character costume description,which is an important part of character and status shaping.This thesis is based on the translation of“li”in Dent-Yang’s translation of The Marshes of Mount Liang,and explores the English translation method and strategy of the ancient headdress“li”.The research found that for the translation of“li”,the Dent-Youngs preferred“hat”as the translation,and used“cap”as translation of“li”for just one time.By comparing and analyzing the meaning of the two words,the author thinks that“hat”is more suitable for translating Chinese“li”than“cap”.Secondly,in the translation of“li”by the translators,there are inconsistencies in the use of clothing vocabulary before and after.In addition,there are mistranslations.Besides,the translator has repeatedly omitted the translation of some words with cultural connotations.
