忠实严谨 灵活流畅--评张文智英译刘大钧《周易概论》

摘　　要：2019年初,《周易概论》英文版在美国出版。该书由著名易学家刘大钧教授撰写、山东大学张文智教授翻译、美国汉学家戴思客教授校译。这是中文易学专著首次译成英文,且译者是中国人。译本第一部分翻译了《周易概论》的前9章,第二部分翻译了刘大钧教授撰写的几篇前言、后记和研讨会开幕辞。张文智的译文忠实严谨而不失灵活,自然流畅而不失透彻,这些特征主要体现在词汇、句法、文风、文化、编排等五个方面。《周易概论》的翻译与出版是“中国文化走出去”的一项重要成果,有助于西方世界更准确地理解、传播《周易》与易学文化,也为中国文化外译提供了很好的借鉴。In early 2019,the English version of Zhouyi gailun(An Introduction to the Book of Changes)was published in America.This book was written by Professor Liu Dajun,an eminent expert in the study of the Yijing,translated by Prof.Zhang Wenzhi,and proof-checked by the American sinologist Prof.Lawrence Scott Davis.This is the first time for a Chinese monograph on Changes scholarship to have been translated into English,and the translator is also a Chinese.Part I of the English version is made up of the former nine chapters of the original Chinese version,and part II is composed of several prefaces,postscript,and opening speech in some conference made by Prof.Liu Dajun.Zhang’s translation is characterized by faithfulness and rigidity but with flexibility,naturalness and smoothness but with incisiveness,which are manifested in the five aspects of use of terminology,adaptation of syntax,stylistic coherence,trans-cultural paraphrase,and flexibility of format.This translation is important achievement of“Chinese culture going out”project,which can help Westerners more accurately understand and transmit the Zhou Changes and Changes-oriented culture,and provide a good mirror for the translation of Chinese culture.
