A Study on the Concept of General Education in Harvard University

摘　　要：作为对博雅教育的继承和发展,通识教育于20世纪40年代在美国兴起,对美国的教育和社会发展产生了广泛而深远的影响,同时也引起了世界各国争相借鉴。目前,中国内地高校普遍开设了通识教育课程,但是实施情况并不理想。通过研究哈佛大学通识教育的主要特点与核心理念,重在指出,通识教育继承了博雅教育的人文性,同时具有典型的民主性和强烈的时代性,作为专业教育的基础,致力于培养一个负责任的人和优秀公民,希望能够为中国的通识教育提供有价值的参考。As the inheritance and development of liberal education,general education rose in the United States in the 1940s,which has a wide and profound impact on the education and social development of the United States,and also made the world draw lessons from.At present,the general education courses are generally offered in the mainland universities in China,but the implementation is not ideal.This paper studies the main characteristics and core concepts of general education in Harvard University,and points out that general education inherits the humanity of liberal education,and has typical democracy and strong epoch.As the foundation of professional education,this paper aims to cultivate a responsible person and excellent citizen,hoping to provide valuable reference for general education in China.
