摘　　要：隐喻不仅仅是一种修辞方式,更是一种重要的认知手段,作为人类认知和思维的重要方式,不但对日常生活语言有着深刻的影响,对科技语言的影响也不可估量。石油科技英语属于专门用途英语,是科技英语的一大分支。本文主要探讨隐喻在石油英语中的现象和作用,从而为石油科技英语翻译提供借鉴。Metaphor is not only a way of rhetoric,but also an important cognitive means.As an important way of human cognition and thinking,it not only has a profound impact on the language of daily life,but also has an immeasurable impact on the language of science and technology.As a branch of Scientific and Technological English,Petroleum English belongs to ESP.This article mainly discusses the phenomenon and function of metaphor in Petroleum English so as to provide reference for the translation of Petroleum English.
