《桃花源记》四个英译文的翻译风格

摘　　要：文章基于语料库,对《桃花源记》四个英译文的翻译风格进行研究。四位译者均对译文进行简化处理,难度较小。相比之下,林语堂和罗经国译文词汇密度较小,词汇丰富度较低,遵循原文的形式;白之和翟理斯译本的词汇密度较大,用词丰富,打破原文的形式,添加逻辑连接词,给读者提供通顺的译文。造成翻译风格不同的原因是白之和翟理斯关注译文的可读性,偏向目的语规范;而林语堂和罗经国关注文化信息的传达,偏向源语规范。This paper is designed to conduct a corpus-based study on the translation styles of the four English versions of Tao Hua Yuan Ji which is an essay written by Tao Yuanming,a writer of Eastern Jin Dynasty.Research findings show that all the four translators have simplified their translation texts featuring lower reading difficulties.By comparison,the English versions of Lin Yutang and Luo Jingguo,with lower lexical density and variation,are in line with the form of the original text to a larger extent.On the other hand,the translation texts of both Birch and Giles boast higher lexical density as well as variation,and break the form of the original text by adding logical connectives to provide fluent translation versions for their readers.The reasons for the different translation styles are that both Birch and Giles pay close attention to the readability of the translation texts with bias towards target language norms while Lin Yutang and Luo Jingguo focus on the transmission of cultural information with bias towards source language norms.
