聂会东与齐鲁医学教育的发端(1883-1911)

摘　　要：聂会东于1883年来华后治病救人、培养医生,在山东工作、生活了近40年。他坚持中文教学,与英国浸礼会传教士合作,开医学巡回教学模式之先河,并在多年实践基础上建立了系统、正规的现代医学教育体系,在中文教科书编写、医学名词术语统一等领域均有重要贡献。作为山东大学齐鲁医学院、齐鲁医院的创始人,聂会东为齐鲁医学享誉中外奠定了坚实基础。James Boyd Neal,who came to China in 1883,served in Shandong for almost 40 years by curing diseases and training physicians.In collaboration with missionaries of the Baptist Missionary Society,Neal pioneered a new teaching mode of“peripatetic class”for medical education;he insisted on teaching in Chinese and established a standard modern medical education system for decades practice.Neal also made great contributions to compile Chinese medical text-books and uniform medical nomenclature.As the founder of Cheeloo College of Medicine and Qilu Hospital of Shandong University,Neal laid the groundwork for world-renowned Cheeloo Medicine.
