从武器革新与道教信仰的矛盾看《荡寇志》的预言性

摘  要:俞万春在《荡寇志》中表现了对武器革新、机械科技的爱好。小说中描写了大量经过改良和新发明的武器、机械,这些武器的制造者集中在洋人白瓦尔罕和刘慧娘两人身上。文中洋人处处输于刘慧娘,这表明当时士大夫的内心深处认为中国本土文化远胜于洋人的先进技术。俞万春的这种思想是对魏源“师夷之长以制之”的回应。作为道士而又思想保守的俞万春偏偏喜欢研究发明新武器,这种矛盾正体现了晚清这个特殊时代里传统与西洋话语碰撞,多种文化并存却不能融合的景况。YU Wanchun showed passion for innovation of weapons and mechanical science and technolog in Dang Kou Zhi.He depicted a number of improved new-invented weapons and machinery in the novel.Makers of these weapons focused on two persons,they were White val Ham and LU Huiniang,while Liu surpassed White everywhere.This phenomenon indicated that scholar-bureaucrats at that times viewed that Chinese native culture was far better than foreigners'technology,which was Yu Wanchun's response to Wei Yuan's idea of"learning from the foreigner to restrain the foreigner".As a conservative Taoist,Yu liked to invent new weapons.This contradiction reflected the culture conflict between Chinese traditions and Western discourse.Various kinds of cultures could coexist but could not merge.
