摘  要:刘薰宇是20世纪我国著名的数学家、教育家,也是作家、出版家,被誉为“新中国中小学数学教科书之父”。他先后在北京高等师范学校和巴黎大学学习数学,一生的职业主要是教师和编辑。他推动了春晖中学发展,创建了立达学园,还先后任多所师范学校的教师、西南联大数学系教授、贵阳中学校长、人民教育出版社副总编辑。其教育活动和研究主要集中在数学教学、全人教育、科普创作、编辑出版等方面。新中国成立后的十多年间,他在人教社主要负责数学和理科教材的编审工作,为教科书建设事业作出了重要贡献。他先后撰写了大量论著和教材,其中的数学课外读物至今仍备受欢迎。Liu Xunyu was a famous mathematician,educator,writer and publisher in the 20th century,and is known as“the father of the mathematics textbooks for primary and secondary school in People’s Republic of China”.He studied mathematics in Beijing Higher Normal School(now Beijing Normal University)and University of Paris,and spent his life as a teacher and editor,promoting the development of Chunhui High School,founding Lida Academy,and serving as a teacher at several normal schools,professor of mathematics at Southwest Associated University,principal of Guiyang High School,and deputy editor-in-chief of People’s Education Press.His educational activities and research were mainly focused on mathematics teaching,whole-person education,popular science writing,and editing and publishing.For more than 10 years after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,he was mainly responsible for the editorial and review work of mathematics and science textbooks in People’s Education Press and made important contributions to the cause of textbook construction.He has written a large number of treatises and textbooks,among which the mathematics extracurricular reading materials are still popular today.
