晚清汉译西方小说的儒家伦理文化渗透

摘  要:晚清西方小说汉译,有明显的时代性和伦理价值取向。翻译家一是用道德伦理对内容进行归化处理,以使译文主旨靠近儒家道德规范;二是用家庭伦理对情节加以改写增删,以使译文内容符合儒家孝亲标准;三是用审美伦理对形式给予移植替换,以使译文形式切合儒家审美范畴。这样翻译处理的主因在于:一是翻译家对外来文学未有清晰的文化背景研判,难以精准把握作品背后的文化意涵;二是缺少翻译对象的语言学知识储备,未能有效转化语言背后的符码意义;三是旧学思维缺乏现代性视野,无力阐发原文表达的新型观念。遂使晚清汉译西方小说在内容、形式上都与原文有着极大差异。The Chinese translation of Western novels in the late Qing Dynasty has a clear orientation to the times and ethical values.First,the translators domesticate the content with moral ethics to make the main idea of the translation close to the Confucian moral code;second,they rewrite and add to the plot with family ethics to make the content of the translation conform to the Confucian standard of filial piety;third,they transpose and replace the form with aesthetic ethics to make the form of the translation fit the Confucian aesthetic category.The main reasons for this translation process are as follows:first of all,the translators do not have a clear cultural background to judge foreign literature and could not accurately grasp the cultural connotation behind the works;next,they lack the linguistic knowledge of the target works and fail to effectively transform the symbolic meaning behind the language;finally,they lack a modern vision because of the old-fashioned academic thinking and are unable to interpret the new concepts in the original text.As a result,the Chinese translations of Western novels in the late Qing Dynasty differ greatly from the original texts in content and form.
