摘 要:写诗是语言的艺术,译诗也是语言的艺术,属于诗歌的再创作。译诗难乃译界共识,但诗歌并非不可译。译诗之难,难在诸多方面,但译者的双语言功力欠缺和文本细读不够,无疑是导致误读和误译的首因。研究拜伦《哀希腊》之汉译本,比较马君武、苏曼殊、胡适、闻一多、查良铮、卞之琳六位著名译者之翻译得失,对译诗难之语言问题及其反思或有一些启发:一个理想的诗歌译者,不仅是两种语言的驾驭者,还应是一位真正的诗人,以及一位渊博的学者。Poetry translation as a literary re-creation activity is similar to poetry writing in that they are both language arts. It is the consensus of the translation community that poetry is by no means easy to translate, but poetry is not untranslatable. Poetry translation is difficult for a number of reasons, among which are the translator’ s lack of bilingual competence and the translator’s insufficient reading of the original poem, resulting in misinterpretation and translation errors. This article is a linguistic study of poetry translation, with focus upon the six Chinese versions of The Isles of Greece written by Byron. Having made a systematic survey of the gains and losses of Ma Junwu, Su Manshu, Hu Shi, Wen Yiduo, Zha Liangzheng and Bian Zhilin in relation to their translations, the authors of this article have come to the conclusion that an ideal poetry translator, so to speak, should be a true poet and a learned scholar as well as a master of two languages.
