In recent years, employee long working hours such as "996" have invoked concerns over employee psychological and health issues and maintaining and improving employee thriving at work is considered as one of the important solutions. The majority of scholarly attention was paid to the effects of work-related factors, leaving the potential influences of nonwork factors less visited. This paper first mapped out the activities that employee may regularly engage from clocking out to clocking in the next day through a pilot interview study. These activities included work overtime, transportation, dinner and breakfast, sleep time and quality, and entertainment. After controlling for the effects of work-related factors, this study found that high quality dinner and sleep were positively related to the next day thriving at work, based on data from 162 employees. These findings extended understanding on antecedents of thriving at work and provided implications for future research in this domain.
