《红楼梦》两个英译本中的权力关系再现——基于USAS语义标注系统的研究

摘　　要：研究基于《红楼梦》杨宪益和霍克斯两个英译本构建的语料库,利用USAS在线语义标注系统,从权利关系总量及其四个下级语义域分别对比。结果发现:1)杨译本在权力关系总量以及“尊敬”和“许可”两个下级语义域方面比霍译本再现得更加充分;2)在“权力组织”和“竞争”两个语义域的再现方面,杨、霍译本并无显著性差异。研究结果1)在一定程度上证实了翻译方向、时代背景和译者的翻译目的都对译作有着实实在在的影响;结果 2)表明原作也对译作影响巨大,由于受原作影响,不同的译作在某些方面可能并无显著性差异。Based on the translation corpus of Hongloumeng(Yangs’ version and Hawkes’ version) and facilitated by USAS tagging system, the current study aims to investigate the power relationship represented in the two translations from the overall perspective and its four sub-semantic domains as well. Results show that 1) the representation of overall power relationship,“respect” and “permission” in Yangs’ translation is statistically more adequate than that in Hawkes’;and 2) in “power, organizing” and “competition” domains, no significant difference is found. Result 1) verifies the hypothesis that directionality,historical background and translator’s purpose do exert some influence on translations, and result 2) reveals that the source work also has great influence so that different translations of the same source work have no significant difference in some or other aspects.
