摘　　要：法律英语属于专门用途英语范畴,形成了自身独特的词汇特征,其中包括hereof等大量具有重要语篇衔接功能的古体词。正确理解这些古体词在法律英语文本中的功能和具体意义,并找到切实可行的翻译方法有利于法律英语文本的理解和翻译。Legal English falls into the category of English for special purposes and has formed its own distinctive lexical features,such as the use of archaic words,hereof for example,which fulfill an important function of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion.Having a good understanding of functions and exact meaning of these archaic words in legal English text and finding feasible translating methods will be of great practical significance for the comprehension and translation of legal English text.
