语言计量指标在翻译风格研究中的应用:以意识流小说《到灯塔去》为例

摘　　要：学界对于是否可以选取语言计量指标进行翻译风格研究尚存争议。本文以意识流小说《到灯塔去》为个案,针对该流派的特点,利用心理语言学软件LIWC提供的计量指标来对比瞿、王两个中译本的翻译风格。结果发现两个译本在心理词语维度的9项指标和语言应用维度的两项指标上存在显著差异,尤其在刻画意识流小说原作人物形象的词语选用上各有侧重,从而表现出不同的翻译风格。笔者据此提出,针对源文特点选取合适的计量指标,对其译本进行计量翻译风格研究的方法是可行的。It remains controversial among researchers whether quantitative linguistic metrics can be applied to the study of translation style or not.To find out our own answers,we conduct a case study on two(Qu’s and Wang’s)Chinese translations of the stream of consciousness novel To the Lighthouse which has been previously discussed,using the linguistic metrics provided by the psychometric software"Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count"(LIWC).Results show that there are significant statistical differences in 9 metrics of the psychological dimension and 2 metrics of the linguistic dimension between the two translations.The semantic differences found in the diction of the two translations for depicting the main characters reveal their stylistic differences.We therefore propose that quantitative study on translation style is appropriate and effective if proper linguistic metrics tailored to the unique features of source texts are applied.
