《化学初阶》翻译中的更新与增删

摘　　要：作为中国早期的化学译著,《化学初阶》对化学知识在晚清的翻译、传播有着重要的意义。文章通过对《化学初阶》及其底本《韦而司化学原理及应用》的对比研究,考证了《化学初阶》的记号法来源,同时发现译者在翻译过程中,对底本内容进行了更新与增删,以便其作为启蒙教材。As an early translation on chemistry in China,the Huaxue Chujie(1871)played an important role in the introduction and spread of chemical knowledge in the late Qing dynasty.Based on a comparison of the Huaxue Chujie with its original English text,Wells’s Principles and Applications of Chemistry,this paper studies the origin of the notation in the Huaxue Chujie.Meanwhile,it is found that in the process of translation,the contents of the original version had been updated,supplemented or deleted,so that the translation could be used as a primer textbook.
