摘　　要：记忆是将个人、时代、政治和文化联系起来的框架,可以从精神、社会、文化三个层面将其分为个人记忆、社会记忆和文化记忆。茅国权译本(1975)和韩南译本(1992)是李渔作品《十二楼》在美国传播的两个主要译本,两者在整体翻译风格与具体翻译策略上大相径庭。茅国权采用“译述”式翻译,而韩南采用“译研”式翻译。这主要受到个体记忆与社会记忆的双重影响,即个体记忆维度中的翻译目的、选材意图以及译者主观情感存在差异;社会记忆维度中的社会制度更替与时代背景变迁导致了译者翻译策略的迥异。在文化记忆维度中,译入语读者群体通过阅读对中国明清社会的世情百态产生了不同认知,并最终形成了不同的文化记忆。Memory is a bridge that connects individuals,times,politics,and culture together.Based on the spiritual level,social level,and cultural level,memory can be divided into personal,social,and cultural memory accordingly.Nathan K.Mao′s translation in 1975 and Patrick Hanan′s translation in 1992 are the two major translations of Li Yu′s Shi Er Lou in the western world,and they differ greatly in their overall translation styles and specific translation strategies.Mao retells the story instead of translating it,while Hanan translates it and does researches at the same time.Their different translation strategies are influenced by both individual memory and social memory,i.e.,the difference in translating purposes and intentions of textual selection from the dimension of individual memory,as well as the translator′s subjective attitudes.From the dimension of social memory,they are influenced by the change of social institutions and historical background.From the dimension of cultural memory,the western readers have different impressions of the Chinese Ming and Qing dynasties through reading and eventually form different cultural memories.
