翻译规范:遵循抑或超越——宇文所安《文心雕龙》英译本的启示

摘　　要：翻译规范是译者群体承认并遵守的普遍价值观,可以用来规范译者的翻译行为。研究发现,宇文所安《文心雕龙》英译本成功的秘诀在于,在遵循翻译规范和超越翻译规范之间找到恰当的位置。前者通过必要的变通手段,弥合语言文化的差异,增强译文的可接受性,达到文化交流的目的。后者通过意识形态的介入操纵文本,在发挥译者主体性的同时,引进源语异质文化,丰富目的语文化的内涵,从而达到在目的语文化系统中延续原作生命的目的。中国典籍英译,不宜做简单机械的复制,而要追求创造性的重构,既要传达中国文化的思想,又要融合目的语读者的期待视野,在强调东方异质文化差异性的同时,还要纳入西方的旨趣以达到和而不同。翻译唯有提高译作的普世价值才能为中西文化的对话与交流开辟道路。Translation norms are universal values recognized and respected by translators and can be used to regulate translators’ translation behavior. It is found that Stephen Owen’s secret of success in translating Wenxin Diaolong lies in landing a proper position between following and transcending translation norms. While the former, through the necessary means of accommodation, bridges the differences between languages and cultures, enhances the acceptability of the translation, and achieves the goal of cultural exchange, the latter, by manipulating the text through the intervention of ideology, and giving full play to the translator’s subjectivity, introduces the heterogeneous culture of the source language and enriches the connotation of the target culture so as to achieve the purpose of extending the original life in the target language. For the English translation of Chinese classics, it is not suitable to do simple mechanical duplication, but to pursue creative reproduction. It’s important to convey the thoughts of Chinese culture and integrate target language readers’ horizon of expectations. Emphasis on the oriental heterogeneous cultural differences and integration of the Western purport to achieve harmony in diversity are two sides of the same coin. Only by improving the universal value of translation can translation develop a way for dialogue and exchange between Chinese and Western cultures.
