摘　　要：翻译在人类的知识生产和传播中扮演着关键性角色。本文以美国大学的学术研究、课程及出版社场域的中国文献翻译实践为切入点,探讨美国翻译中国文献的动机、实践及影响。研究发现,美国翻译中国文献是以推进中国研究、生产中国相关知识为目标,并最终服务于美国在远东和太平洋地区的国家利益。美国大学场域的中国文献翻译不仅促进了美国的中国研究,使美国取得了在相关学术知识生产方面的领先地位,也为中国在新时期通过翻译世界各国文献以促进知识生产提供了启示。Translation plays a key role in the production and circulation of knowledge. This study discusses the motivation, practice, and influence of Chinese texts translated by American scholars in the domains of academic research, curriculum design, and American university presses. The study argues that American translation has been aimed at promoting Chinese studies and producing knowledge about China to serve American interests in the Far East and the Pacific. The translation of Chinese texts in the domain of American universities not only promotes Chinese studies and secures the United States a leading position in relevant academic knowledge production, but also sheds light on how to promote knowledge production through the translation of texts worldwide into China in the new era.
