连字符在科技翻译中的应用探析

摘　　要：当今社会节奏越来越快,科技发展突飞猛进,因此人们对于信息的处理要求也随之加快。作为一门交际语言的英语日趋简化,使得连字符被广泛应用于书面英语中,在科技翻译中最为明显。该文对连字符在科技英语中的应用、功能以及误区进行分析,帮助翻译工作者熟练使用连字符,掌握科技术语的构词法,简化汉英翻译。Nowadays,the pace of society is getting faster and faster,and the development of science and technology is advancing by leaps and bounds.Therefore,people's requirements for information processing are also accelerating.As a communicative language,English is becoming more and more simplified,which makes hyphen widely used in written English,especially in scientific translation.This paper analyzes the application,functions and misunderstandings of hyphens in scientific English,so as to help translators to use hyphens skillfully,master the word formation of scientific terms and simplify Chinese-English translation.
