摘 要:英语专业教学改革在内涵式发展和质量提升为导向的新一轮英语教育改革中起着关键的作用。研究以430名某高校英语专业学生为被试,进行以思辨能力为导向的英语教学改革类实验。以被试学生高考成绩作为协变量,运用协方差分析对比两届学生英语专业四级成绩,结果表明思辨英语课程改革能显著提高英语专业学生的英语水平。同时,通过计算效应值(ES=+0.69),从统计学的角度说明本轮思辨英语教学改革可为同类院校进行教学改革时提供参考。Teaching reform for English majors plays a pivotal role in the new round of English educational reform featured by connotative development and quality enhancement.The present study,via a quasi-experiment,tested whether the critical thinking English teaching reform in a higher education institution was successful or not.Participants were 430 English majors at undergraduate level.Applying ANCOVA analysis,it shows that the critical thinking-oriented teaching reform contextualized at four dimensions“learning goals,teaching materials,workshops and training for instructors”(Sun Youzhong,2015)can significantly improve English majors academic performance.Moreover,this study is found to be moderate evidence(ES=+0.69)that can produce educationally meaningful effect on enhancing English majors academic performance.Therefore,this teaching reform paradigm might provide referential evidence for other similar higher education institutions.
