摘 要:谭嗣同在《仁学》中从两个方面批驳了荀子:一方面,荀子败坏孔门的民主之道,将中国引向君主专制的道路;另一方面,荀子在臣子中开启了乡愿的不良风气,配合君主专制式政治,影响了中国二千多年。但是,《仁学》对荀子的批评其实是一种错位的批驳。谭嗣同在特殊的历史背景下写成《仁学》一书,内忧外患的社会现实促使他急于为中国寻找变法图强的道路,他的意图在于托古改制,从而将荀子视为君主专制式政治的始作俑者,以此来维护孔子与儒学的形象,减少变法的阻力。Tan Sitong refuted Xunzi from two aspects in Ren Xue.First,Xunzi corrupted the democratic way of Confucianism and led China to the path of autocratic monarchy;second,Xunzi started a vicious practice of“Xiang Yuan”(duplicity)among the emperor’s courtiers,supporting the autocratic monarchy politics for more than 2000 years.However,criticism of Xunzi in Ren Xue is actually a misplaced refutation.Tan Sitong wrote this book under a special historical background.The social reality of internal and external troubles prompted him to find a way for China to reform and rise.His intention was to reform the ancient system and regard Xunzi as a spokesperson of autocratic monarchy.He hoped to maintain the image of Confucius and Confucianism and reduce resistance to the reform.
