摘　　要：博物馆一直是英国作家书写与反思的对象。A.S.拜厄特的小说《孩子们的书》以南肯辛顿博物馆历史变迁为背景,展示了19世纪中后期英国博物馆的社会功用从“收藏”到“公民教育”的转向过程。本文考察博物馆教育对青少年智识发展和自我建构的影响,旨在阐明博物馆教育隐匿的帝国意识与伦理问题是其陷入“理想公民”培育困境的根本原因,揭示作者关于构建参与性、互动性博物馆教育的思考。The Museum has always been a subject of writing and refection in British novels. The Children’s Book of A. S. Byatt depicts the evolution of the South Kensington Museum in the latter half of the 19th century to investigate the shift in the social function of British museums from “collection” to “civic education”. This study examines the infuences museum education exerts upon teenagers in terms of intellectual development and self-construction. Attributing the predicament of cultivating an “ideal citizen”to Imperial consciousness and certain ethical issues implied by museum education, this paper tries to explore Byatt’s thoughts on constructing a new type of museum education featuring participation and interaction.
