英语重音研究的理论源流及发展

摘　　要：以往对英语重音的研究,大多分别对英语词重音和句重音进行分析,将二者结合起来研究的不多。文章探讨了英语重音研究的起源,对词重音和句重音研究的发展、交汇和引发的争论进行梳理,指出英语重音的二重性研究不可忽视。英语重音的二重性是词重音和句重音的叠加,但由于词重音和句重音分属不同的研究范畴,各自研究主体、语音特征和言语功能虽有相似之处,但差异更大,因此不能以“重音”一概而论。需要基于词重音的客观辨义功能、句重音的主观交际功能,结合各自相应的语音表现,厘清英语词重音和句重音的内涵。同时立足音系—语用二维层面,或相邻音节语音突显表征,对跨语言词层面和句层面语音突显的二重性展开讨论,推动韵律音系对比研究和语言类型学的进一步发展。The previous research mainly focuses on the study of English lexical stress and English sentence stress perspectival,less concerns to explore the co-relations between the two.This study analyzes the origin of English stress studies,the different development approaches of English word stress and sentence stress,the overlapping between them and the related arguments.Together with phonetic experimental evidences,this study points out the importance of the duality of English stress.Though English lexical stress and sentence stress share similar phonetic features,they belong to different research scopes,present different speech functions and display much more differences.Therefore,it is not workable to over generalize them in a simple way.Up to now,two possible approaches may be applied to distinguish them,one is the combination between phonological concept and pragmatic function,another is the phonetic prominence based on phonetic experimental analysis.
